Anybody got any advice regarding routes or must visit places in Slovenia? We have a week there in July and have not booked any accomodation yet, so are flexible where we go. Any info appreciated.

Triglav National Park. From Kranjska Gora ride south on 206 until it meets the 203. North on 203, about a mile before the Italian border pick up the 902 and ride it to the end.

Another recommendation for Malta...and John will put some very good runs into Slovenia into your GPS. Just be aware you need a vignette for Slovenia as well as Austria if you decide to beat a storm back up to Malta by using the motorway!

Best be quick...he's doing a runner!

I should have added that we are putting the bike on the Autorail from Holland to Slovenia, so starting and finishing in Koper..

If you don't mind asking.... What was the cost for the Autorail? :thumb2

It was about £850 return for me and the Mrs including evening meals in a private sleeper. Railsavers are doing discounts on certain dates at the moment. Not cheap I know, but saves at least 4 days slog down there and back.

That's not bad if you take into aacount accomodation and fuel etc :thumb2

I'm going to Faaker See, South Austria in September. Will be taking a trip into Slovenia and have been advised to visit Lake Bled.
Found this thread great with some good pointers on routes to go in Slovenia. I didn't know a vignette was needed (cheers).
Tosser advice rules.:thumby:

European Bike Week in Faaker See commencing 7th Sept and is well placed for Slovenia too.

It's the Bike Week that I'm going to. Then on into Slovenia.
Will try and include the Triglav National Park that you recommend, and may even have a stop over with Ros and John on the way home.:beerjug:

Bike weeks a great event and the suggested routes really is worth the effort, i don't think I've ridden better. Very much put me in mind of American national parks.

Hope to go for Bike Week and I've accommodation booked but family commitments mean I may yet have to cancel.

Sure hope the weather's better than last year.

Predil Pass
Soca Valley
Postonja Cave
Lake Bled
Local red wine

All of the above good :thumb Soca valley a very green and pretty place to motor, the colour of the river waters are beautiful!

Don't discount potentially having an overnight in Ljubljana if your schedule permits. It is a very compact and charming capital city and very easily accessible by bike - not they usual city ball ache at all.
