im interested to know if this is a worthwhile addition to my Nav 6 and how to use it, would be great if anyone had any screenshots of the info and how detour options appear on screen.

Got it om my XT and it's well worth it. Needs to be connected to internet through the app.
Alerts with detour option that shows the time saving.
Works really well abroad as well.
I recommend.

What needs to be connected to the internet? The phone? The app? The GPS device? Something else?

Does the ‘Needs to be connected to the internet through the app’, apply to the Nav VI, too?

GPS to the app.

No idea on your 2nd q. Just my opinion. Assume he can do similar as he's asking if worth it.

For Nav 5/6 Garmin Smartlink is a phone app. App needs internet connection and phone needs Bluetooth connection to GPS device.

In my experience it eats the phone battery and the traffic data etc. it yields is total crap. Google maps or Waze it ain’t.

I gave up using it years ago…

Thank you.

I tried the Garmin app thing on my Nav VI.

I thought it garbage, dropped it and deleted the app.
