I rode my GS in the snow a couple of years ago and was surprised how well it behaved. If we are to believe the soothsayers at the MetOffice we are in for a cold winter. That gets me thinking about the best tyres to use in the snow.
At the moment I run TKC80 and I love them to bits. Is there a better snow tyre e.g. Metzler Karoo? I was also wondering about screwing the Scandinavian-style studs into the tread blocks to give extra grip in the snow but don't know a) if they are legal and b) if they would be OK in tubeless TKCs. I did see this thread which doesn't fill me with confidence, but nevertheless would like to get to some sort of solution because hooning around the Mendips in the snow could be a real hoot.
