Hi all, born and raised in the Midlands and never visited Snowdon, so, I've got a three days pass and a new tent, I think it's time.

Can anyone recommend me a decent campsite near there and/or a couple of decent roads to travel. I'll be on the RT so tarmac only.

Thanks in advance, cheers Stefan

We've just booked into a camping & caravanning site at Bala for our summer camping hols :)

Heading up there myself this weekend, from the area originally so know some good routes. I will be going up on friday and camping somewhere!

You can't really go wrong anywhere, more B roads than you can shake a stick at.
The A5 is a cracker up through Llangollen, Betws Y Coed, Llanberis Pass. There are so many places to see and stop off at it's difficult to know where to start. I think i'll be heading up Through Mid Wales, Rhaeadr, Elan Valley, Devil's Bridge up to Aberystwyth, up the coast and up to Tal Y Llyn near Dolgellau. Camping here the night probably and then on Through Dolgellau up to my parents place in the heart of Sonwdonia near Caernarfon.

Any campsite Snowdonia could be a great base for a few routes. If you need anymore info you can call me if you like on 07957213260.

Hope you enjoy yourself, weather looks great!

There's a gorgeous one here. You pay at the PH bottom centre; the site's at the end of the lake next to the forest. You look across to Snowdon. :thumb2

Regards, Mick

Thanks for the replies, I took the opportunity to have a day in there on Sunday and, what a fabulous day it was too. Visited several really nice sites, so I'm all set for a few days camping, which will now be next week. Wonder if the weather will be a great as this weekend?

Just to say thanks to all, had a really good few days at the Cwellyn Lake campsite. Had the place virtually to myself, will definately go back there.

Anbody got any ideas for similiar sites in the Brecon Beacons?...I'm off for a look at that next week.. as with Snowdonia, there seems to be more campsites than you can shake a stick at... cheers, Stefan
