I found the thread below on google.

I was wondering wether anyone is actually using one of the HJC helmets. If so, are they any good and who supplies the connector that fits the screen to the battery? The dealer I've been in touch with in the states confirms that the helmet comes without a connector but did'nt suggest where I could get one!

Thanks.

I need to do a bit more digging around on this subject. It would appear that swapping the terminal connector over to a BMW plug may be straightforward - but I've not taken this any further at the moment.

I'm hoping to do the KrystalRally next year..so a heated visor/helmet is high up on my list of things to get before then.

to continue....

I bought the helmet from

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-...34158QQptZApparelQ5fMerchandise#ht_2276wt_941

At the time there was a make an offer option and 180 dollars secured the deal. It comes with a heated shield which isn't illustrated.

It seems like a reasonable piece of kit and it does after all come with an adaptor to fit to the bike's battery. The double screen seems fog proof without the heating element but I'll know better next winter.

Heres the thing. It comes with an American DOT label which may or may not make it technically illegal to wear in the UK. I once found a quotation from Janes Police Review (the police handbook) which actually give british police flexibility in deciding what is and what is not a suitable crash helmet. I'll try to track it down if anyone is interested.

Finally (?) I emailed HJC helmets and asked them to confirm that the CL-Max snowmobile helmet is exactly the same as the CL-Max at http://bikergear.co.uk/clmax-flip-helmet-p-552.html which is EU and ACU approved. I guess they would have their own legal reasons for not even replying to that suggestion.

I'll remove the DOT label to avoid attracting attention.

Have I just started a thread on helmet labels?
Sorry for the long post. I hope that helps.

Just to report that the visor fitted to this helmet also carries no approval markings. Thats because this visor would not be approved by your worst enemy. It has no anti-scratch coating and having been worn for a couple of months the fragmentation of street lights etc when I wore it after dark for the first time on my way home last night was scary. The visor has been touched by nothing other than visor wipes and my gloved hand.
The helmet itself is fine.
