I am still renovating my 1991 100GS and thought I would unscrew the petrol taps. Well, the filter colums has collapsed completely, the green tubes had turned to bakelite and crumbled away and the bottom of the whole fitting inside the tank was embedded in a substance which a coal preparation plant would have been proud of, i.e. tar. To make matters worse one of the filters is now rattling around inside the tank and will not come out. I have sent off for a 'Sealey flexible claw pick-up tool' and I am optimistic as I can just seen the friggin' thing lying at the bottom of the tank.

Looks like two new taps, to go with all the other stuff I have been buying recently.

Those boys at motors-works up north sure get the stuff out quickly. Have they no homes to go to?

Question is, what on earth will I need a Sealey flexible claw pick-up tool for ever again.

There will be more of this in the future.

all the best

Sell it on here

I have always manged to get the gauze filter out by moving the tank around., etc. - they only "press fit" - so expect to see them fall off again if you take the pet cock off

Now I am really depressed. Why is everyone called 'Tosser' on this site? Thanks anyway et bonne chance.
