From my experiences of Discos, my first thought is "What have the Malians ever done to you that you want to inflict a Disco on them?"
Secondly, I think giving a vehicle away is a very bad idea. The original Plymouth Dakar Rally gave away their vehicles to good causes. A year later almost every vehicle had been trashed and they expected another one. If you give something away it is valued at nil and treated accordingly. After that the organisers decided to sell the vehicles and give the money to charity. If the people had to buy the vehicles then strangely they tended to look after them and bothered to service them etc.
Unfortunately, there are hundreds/thousands of donated vehicles left to rot as the people who received them have no idea or funds to maintain them.
You might be better off selling the vehicle and giving the proceeds to a good cause.
1) many countries wont allow a RHD vehicle to be registered there (Gambia for example, although the ones we took down were snuck around the rules)
2) Check for certain that you CAN get out of the country without it, or paying the duties....get it in writing from the embassy if you can.
3) take masses of consumables and spares if you possibly can.....there are compounds down there with literally dozens of donated 4x4s that get used for a month then parked up and cannabilised for parts just because they cant get a spark plug, or some poxy cheap little part.
There aren't many discos in Mali, and without some sort of ongoing support, your kind donation will be a pile of bits inside 3 months
