Well, shell petrol station to be precise, awaiting BMW emergency assist... odd one this...

Riding up the M6 just now, all fine. Then it started banging and buffering like a crazy horse trying to throw me off, then conkers out, nothing, nada...

Sat on hard shoulder for about 10 mins, trying to start it every so often and nothing, it cranks but refuses to fire. Then all of a sudden it fires into life, plooms of smoke then all good!

Ok so rkde about 5 mile more, and it starts doing the same again... now I noticed its warmed up to normal running temperature, so stop, wait about ten mins to cool again and it fires up! Ride a few more miles, temp gauge gone from 2 bars to normal and it does it again... splutter bang dead...

So, now its cold again, waiting for BMW assist, and the feckin thing is working again!!! Wtf??

Anyone have any ideas? Its fuelled and has oil, and was just serviced the other weekend (12k service) now on 14.4k...

Its a 30year GSA, got it last October...

Cheers

Also something I forgot to say... there was a bit of smoke coming from the OS head, and just starting it the OS header starts glowing pretty quickly, NS header isn't even glowing (its dark now so it shows up pretty much instantly

BMW should give you a car or upto £70 in costs just make sure you get the call out number.

For a max of two days IIRC :(

Aye, but they did say if the repair takes longer, then it's down to the dealership repairing the bike to sort costs or arrange alternative methods.

Recovery chap was pointing to the possibility of a dodgy coil pack, as there was a pretty strong smell of hot oil coming from the OS head. So given it's not long since had its service, maybe the gasket wasn't quite fitted properly so it's been pissing oil out, as it has been smelling a bit since the service of hot oil.

Ahwell, see what goes on over the next few days :) Not arsed really as long as I can get to work, and they don't wash it while it's in the shop being sorted!

Had a call at about 9:20 thismorning from Chester saying they've got the bike and will start working on it ASAP...

Car should have been here at 10am... STILL waiting... Rang Enterprise, they're about as useful as a dead skunk in a perfume factory... Rang BMW, they are chasing it up and said Enterprise will call me in 10 minutes to arrange alternative transport/update me... this was 20 minutes ago, so shall be ringing BMW again soon...

I know it's not BMW's fault at Enterprise being crap, but still, I should be in work as got quite a busy day today and really can't afford to take it off  :censor:

*edit/update @ 12:40*

Car won't be here now untill 3:30pm... FFS!! So I've now lost a whole days wage... And I reckon the chances of me claiming back lost earnings is what... zilch?? *angry face*
