So then, this 15 hour service thingy......

Perhaps a little extreme but...why not buy in near by Greece or Italy....you can get either of the bikes above for less than 3000 Euro and as second hand vehicles duty to Turkey can't be as high as buying a new KTM. .....worth a thought perhaps. :)

Import duty and taxes would push costs to the same as buying second hand here, plus all the expense of registering a bike here are stupidly high. Few people realise how expensive Turkey is to live in.

The dealer refuses to do a trade-in, the bike's on sale on behalf of the owner. If he agreed I'd jump.....I'll have to go and see him, and take my mate, a big hammer, with me.

I am suddenly very tempted by this:

“I will be celebrating my 50th birthday”

“Being a Managing Partner of Sportworks, the company in charge of PR and marketing of the Dakar Turkish Team, I am proud to witness the rising popularity and awareness of the rally here in Turkey. The official Dakar Turkish Team website: www.DakarTurk.com has had more than 350,000 visitors since its launch in 2007. Along with the 16 million $’s worth media coverage, the public’s interest in the forums held in web portals, in the fairs and seminars, and the farewell and welcoming crowd at the airport is the proof of the rising popularity of Dakar in Turkey. The development and promotion of the Dakar Turkish Team Project continues in 2011 as well. Hereby, we would like to increase the Turkish Team participation in the car and motorcycle categories with additional new racers.
As the Dakar Turkish Team our goal in 2010 is to flourish and represent the Turkish flag at best in the world’s hardest and most prestigious motorsports organization by doing whatever is needed to pass the finish line. To finish the rally without requiring any assistance service for the 5th year and to rank among the first 30 or at least get closer to my 23rd rank in the general classification in 2003, are my personal goals for this year’s rally. In the memorable 10th and 12th stages in 2009 Dakar, I felt my physical condition was weaker than the needed level. Therefore, I practiced more for the 2010 rally. I have attended and ranked high in various competitions held in Turkey such as the Triathlon, mountain biking and kayaking races. While racing in and getting prepared for these competitions I worked out different muscles and increased my performance.
While in the previous two years, I have participated the rally with a KTM 450cc motor, this year I am going to participate with a KTM 690 Enduro R which I will modify on my own. This year I am aiming to rank higher in the general classification with the KTM 690 Enduro R without having an assistance service again.
Being my 6th competition year, the 2010 Dakar Rally is also very special because I will be celebrating my 50th birthday.”
