I assume they HAVE to use them, or they wouldn't be there and we wouldnt see all these great action shots.

It has to be small, light, consume near zero power, it's got to be rugged and waterproof, and capable of HD transmission.

They put three or four of them on each car, and Webber had one in what looked like a fairly critical place on a wing today in Deutscheland (looking across to the right at 90 degrees), so they have to be 'stuck on' type things rather than 'integral to the design' type things

What do they use, anyone know?

:nenau

Not GoPro, that's for sure:D

Certainly not :blast

Ya know where I'm going with this though......

Many car tech developments have come down from F1 or top league motorsports stuff.......I watch F1 these days and one of the things that stands out is the quality, immediacy and (presumably, given the F1 tuned machine needs) tiny and lightweight camera kit that they have to use.

It bodes well for us in our humble, wobbling all over the road and falling off at the slightest suggestion of a rut biking world :thumb

They use numerous types of camera. The Mercs today had one that looked like a miniature Zeppelin on their front wing to measure the tyre heat build up and degradation by way of infra red.

Another type of camera.

...and another for rear tyre deg.

But I think most of the rear view shots are carried out like this.
