Socket for gps? What, where, how, why not?

Hello

Planning a European trip (The other way around) as everyone seems to be off for North Cape

Anyway, I need a GPS fitted. I have allready got a Garmin C60CSX, which I may be using. The question is how do I connect it to the bikes electrical system.

I am not big one for playing about with electrics, as I usually end up breaking things( Or getting my finertips fried)

Any viewpoints, comments and guidelines would be great

Which bike are you using?

Most GPS can be powered off the BMW power outlet and most of the GS's have one up near the headstock.

If the bike is pre-CANBUS then you could do what I did which is to get the purpose made Garmin bike power kit and solder it to the BACK of the power outlet (this leaves the outlet free for other things). Doing it this way means that the GPS is on a switched outlet and won't be left on when the bike is off (unless you over ride and let it use it's own internal batteries).

I have a Zumo rigged like this on my 1150Adv and a 76Csx (similar unit to your 60Csx) done the same on my Husaberg.

if you have a gs1200 with can but NN do a garmin specific lead that wires staright to the canbuc acc socket in the head stock, unsure of the rrp but might be worth a look?

Anyone of you using the City Navigator program on a small GPS like a Garmin 60 or a 76? Does it work properly?
