Wanted Socket set - Good quality

Whatever you end up getting, treat your ratchet and get a breaker bar to crack tight nuts, greatly reducing the stress on the mechanism.

Look out for the 216 piece set in Lidl. It has everything including spanners, it comes with 1/4 3/8 1/2, including extension bars and a host of other things. I have mine 7 years and use it 3 to 4 times a week and nothing has broken

At the lower end I have found Bluespot quite good for the money and some items have a longish warranty period.
Although costing more, my preference is also for Bahco which is the sweet spot IMHO.

Great advice from everyone and much appreciated.
But so far not one offer of anything for sale.
Please let me know if you have anything, that you are willing to part with, before I buy new.
Cheers
John
Unless there is a person willing too give a decent set away, postage will be very expensive..

completely fucked after dropping it as he could not be arsed to put everything back in their slots

I spent a happy half hour or so, finding all the pieces and putting them back correctly.

That said, I most often use a much smaller set (consisting ONLY of the pieces I use most often) rather than opening the big box. A good set of spanners (open ended, ring and ratchet) along with a good set of screwdrivers (not used as chisels or crowbars) and all is good. Look after things and they’ll look after you.

In our industrial environment it was Teng we found to be the toughest socket sets at sensible money with a break it we replace it policy - buy with confidence if you get an offer .

Halfords normally do cracking discounts on their 200 piece set for Black Friday. I’d wait and see what BF brings and grab a new one if I was you.

Also check out Shadowfoam. I foamed my entire set into a BF deal tool chest..

Wait a couple of week for the black Friday deals.

I have the big Halfords kit, as already said its bulky and heavy.
Good quality though.

At Halfords 2 days ago they also had a combined 1/4" and 3/8" set in a much smaller case - looked a lot more practical for both the garage and on the road. Didn't see the price but it would be a lot less than the 200 piece set.
