Up a hill in Somerset!
This one's going to have some real adventures. If it breaks down I'll just hit it with a hammer!

It's going to the Gambia in Fanum's (and the original team's) footsteps/tyre tracks :bow this October. :D

Just need some decent LED spots for it, a new battery, tyres, exhaust, some gaffer tape and cable ties and I'm ready to roll. Is there anything else I need to consider?

That's a beauty, a predator!

I wish mine had never been stolen. If you're wanting some advice (and you're not) you get an extra 4-8 mph after an oil change, and it's worth changing the rear shocks - transforms the handling!

If only I had one in my stable.

Brim the tank.....straight up to 3rd gear, do 76 miles, run out, stop.

.............repeat until you get there :D

Fantastic trip, chill and enjoy :thumb2

PS ya know those seat tidier things they put on the back of car seats?
Get one of those, or a pouch or bag of some sort, and attach securely to the inside of the foot guard plastics.....fill with nuts, dried fruit, jelly babies and wine gums :thumb

Make sure you have clothing that will let you cover EVERY INCH of your skin, including long socks to cover over your ankles, a long sleeved T shirt, light buff etc.......you will be riding along two tank's worth (that's how you judge distance ion this trip) of dyke wall on the Senegalese/Mauritanian border, and the mossies are like soup in the air :eek:

I could go on for pages on what to expect, but it really would spoil it.....just go with an open mind, be prepared to walk away from the group and kick a rock, swear a bit and go back with a smile.....start each day afresh and remember that your biggest assets to getting through it will be a warm open smile and a handshake :thumb2

You'll come back a different person, but you won't see it until after you're back :clap

Well done, good luck and don't forget it's pavlova for tea tomorrow :augie (in joke from Trip1)

~~~ I used a bum bag and also discovered you can use Mars Bars as currency with your fellow lunatics. :green gri
~~~ unless Denis insists on going on the Piste. :rolleyes: STILL good advice though.

~~~ i was going to suggest industrial grade ear plugs, and if they dont work - a short length of 2x4 and a small shovel for burying the body - but Fanums is quite right. :augie
~~~ otherwise "red with lumps" most days
. :D

You need ...

... some seat bling :cool:

Personally ...

... I wouldn't bother with LED spots, you shouldn't be riding after dark in Morocco, and all the spotlights in the world won't stop the myopic bastards trying to knock you off :mad:

ps - the pavlova is still frozen, maybe tomorrow ...

loved all the C90s at the Dragon this year - especially the one with the long distance tank :thumb

fuck off with your fucking 'stable' FFS!!

its a fuckin shed

Thanks for all the excellent advice and I'll certainly take them on board.

I'm seeing a quack next week. :thumb

So I'll be needing steel toecaps then. :D

They'll probably only get a curry from me! Should be a musical evening afterwards! ;)

What about Camelbacks? Any good. I know it'll be important to keep hydrated.

Keep 'em coming. :clap

i couldn't get on with mine. sweated too much through my back. :eek
gave up after one day and just kept a bottle of water handy. Every time the bike got refuelled / so did i. ;)
One of the guys on the last trip filled his with cola - not a good idea - all the fizz.... fizzzed :D didnt help much when we stopped and he leant back on his camel and it burst - covering him in sticky fizzy cola :blast

I would go for a camelbak or similar, much easier to go sip-sip-sip along the way than glug-glug every 76miles..... I use one in summer in Saudi, it is very useful. No need to have cold water, it is all the same temperature a few seconds after you swallow.

You may find ...

... it difficult to keep a Camelback clean, as some of the places you will be staying are less than sanitary :rolleyes: Bottled water worked well for me on both trips I completed.

that is a touch of understatement, that is. :D
Wet wipes are a godsend and 'hand sanitiser' might be a good idea. :nenau
i only got a dodgy tummy when i got as far as the hospital. :blast
