Soft front end

The wifes F650 has always been on the soft side, with too much dive under breaking.
I have to pull the forks apart to fix a leaking fork seal so thought I would fit some stronger progressive springs.
Any recomendations?
Has any body tried preloading the standard ones with spacers?

There is a guy in germany that sells Wirth springs for the f650gs range for at least £15 cheaper than turdatech. www.gerrys-web-parts.de iirc

I've fitted the Touratech springs to my Dakar,a great improvement ----- worth doing

Touratech springs are Wirth ones. They make a HUGE improvement to the front end are well worth the £50 odd they cost. The OEM springs are fitted with a long spacer as standard. As you can see the Wirth springs are thicker and progressive.

One thing to try before you go spending shed loads of money...

My CCM has long travel softish front suspension and under braking dives quite markedly, especially if you are a front brake first rider.

By adapting my riding slightly, i have reduced the dive considerably! Applying the rear brake first induces a touch of squat which seems to counter the front end dive....

Anyway... take the egg, carefully stick a pin in one end......

Maybe take the opportunity to put some grade 15 fork oil in there as well. I rebuilt the forks on Clare's 650 recently, and put 10 grade in, and I think they're underdamped. However all down to personal preference.

Let us know how you get on with the new springs, as I think I may go down that road too
