some ingenuity required please!

I have an 1150GSA 2002 - i have attached to the handlebars(near where the key goes) a small bracket from a push bike for a little cycle computer.

unfortunately i cannot see it whilst riding so i want to raise this bracket up to a similar height to the handlebar crossbar ( the one with the sponge pad on)

would anyone have any suggestions for some form of adaptation that would fit onto the handle bar at the yoke end and raise it up 2-3" where it would need a tube at the top to re attach the bracket that was originally on the bars at the yoke end.

does that make any sense??

any suggestions are welcomed! preferebaly constructive ones

I had one of those, it fell to bits pretty quickly, now have one of these http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/xtreme-barnizer-ca/aid:116750 , had to use a bit of rubber to make the clamp small enough on F650GS but is a really lovely bit of kit.

Both our bikes have them for mounting our Garmin GPS units.
