Ok, checked the search button and got nowt, so here goes:

Oil (calm down) I know 20/50 or 10/40, but what about fully synth in a '98 1100 any issues?

Tyres....... I have Michelin something or other (un-readable) rear is new, front pretty scrubbed out, can I mix and match, or best to keep both the same brand/type??
Also I note that the rear is a 170, any issues with putting a 180 on? (when it needs changing)

My seat seems a little harsh, does anybody know a seat tech in the Kent area that can make it more comfy?

I need a right hand spark plug cover, anybody got one I can buy, or a link to one?

Where's the best place to buy spares for my GS (apart from BMW dealership)

Thanks in advance for your input

Semi synthetic is plenty good enough for this engine.
Why would you want a wider rear tyre? Stick to what Bmw intended.
Try Tony Archer in huddersfield top bloke and will do your seat via post. He's done loads of these so don't worry.
Motorworks for all your spares new and secondhand.

We're lucky here in the UK to have 3 specialist suppliers.. plus a few others (i.e. GS shop)

I like to be sure my stuff is going to arrive.. nothing worse in my book than expecting an order only to find something missing - because its en route from germany or something like that. so... I make a point of always phoning first. and if one doesn't have everything... i try another.

google:

Motorworks
Motobins
James Sherlock.

they're all good. call before midday mon-thurs and you can pretty much guarantee next day delivery from all of them.

BMW dealers can often be cheaper than others for new cycle parts, like spark plug covers
Where do you think the independents buy genuine parts from?.... Mars?

You didn't say what bike you actually have. If it's an 1100GS the rear tyre should be 150 section as standard.

As per post 2 fully synth. oil is wasted on these tractor engines so unless you have an endless free supply of it buy semi-synth and use the balance of the money for fuel.

After trying a lot of different discs and high spotting them regularly I rated the ones from www.allbikeengineering.co.uk highly. I used Ferodo Platinum pads from Neil at www.gsshop.biz

No connection with either company apart from being a happy customer.

Yes, it's an 1100 GS, I'll check the tyre again to make sure

Oil, semi is all you need.

Tyres, I run a PR3 front and tourance in the rear. I'm totally delighted with the feel. Some people will give you lots of BS why this is all types of wrong but f@@k em, I'm happy. RE tyre size I don't know but it's worth experimenting.

Seat, Tony Archer top bloke. I live quite near him but he does an excellent mail order service.

Motoworks most of the time. You can get genuine BMW parts cheaper than going to the dealer even though they are presumably bought from BMW, robbing b@@@@@ds.
