Sound in helmet

Now then! Other than Scala (since I want stereo sound) what do people use to get sound in their helmets> I have a Zumo 550 with a 4GB card filled to the rim. All that's missing is the sound piece. I had some helmet speakers installed by a German company but the result was disappointing. Hardly any volume and no base at all. I am now thinking about earplugs but ideally would like to go down the installed helmet speaker route since this would be more comfortable. Any help or guidance is much appreciated!

Get an Autocom, plenty of interfaces for anything you might need. MP3, phone, gps and walkie talkies to name but a few plus you can talk to your pillion at over 3 figures as though your sitting still (no shouting)
