Like many other GS riders, I have been working on noise reduction from bufetting for a year, with success coming slowly.

on a 380km trip this morning from KL to Singapore, I had my best ride yet in the realm of quietness, the reason for this was 3M foam earplugs. I always use earplugs, but the 3M ones are fantastic at cutting out the whislte from wind buffeting.

Until now I've used industrial quality foam plugs bought from local hardware shops, but the quality of the 3M foam is apparent as soon as you have both types in your hand, the 3M is much more dense, but still very easy to sqeeze thin and insert. I can highly reccomend them.

Foam plugs are best as long as you take time to fit them properly. Premoulded are not as good for the sounds but handy and always fit properly. I could doze off with foam plugs well stuffed in.

3m earplus.

I use EAR plugs which suit me,however, just fitted a satnav & use a headset anyone suggest which cut out the windnoise ??

Etymotic ER6i

Expensive, I know. (~ $80 here in US at Amazon)

I tried a few cheaper ones in the $10...$20 price range, but they were useless (where sound isolation was concerned).

I usually wear foam earplugs, and wanted to get sound isolation similar to those. The etymotics isolate just as well as the foam plugs. I use them with a music player on longer trips. Makes the occasional freeway droning less boring...
