Rode out to Cullinan East of Pretoria yesterday with a few friends - including 3 1200 GS's and an 1150 - great ride-out, and a very popular place with bikers! (and the place where the world's largest diamond was found in 1905 so I learned!).

Hi not much to do with the ride out but my wifes great uncle was the bloke who found the culinnan diamond. Her mothers maiden name is culinnan We would like to ride out there one day and have a look.

A mate of mine`s family owned the farm there on the hill, there is an orchard of peach trees on top of the hill. Strange place to have the small orchard, it is not disturbed. During the Boer War, a small group of Boer,s held off a large group of British, but were eventually overcome, they all died and were buried there, they were living off the land with pockets of peaches, the shallow graves made great planting (with nutrients) for the peaches.

The same place, Cullinan has a large graveyard for Italian prisoners of War who were shipped to SA for "detention" during WW2.
