Once your out of the detailed road maps boundries, all that's there is the world base map, with the usual main roads only, I use the term main roads loosely.

It seems to find towns ok but I`m not sure what the routing would be like. It would point you there in off road mode I think.

There is no autorouting facility with the world map (other than straightline plots). It will of course still give lat and long position. and show general direction.

One "trick" I found in Albania, was not too zoom in to close. The world map is just as inaccurate as the base maps, and if your in too close it doesn't show your position accurately. From a wider angle it still gives a good indication of which way your heading and where the town that your heading for is in relation to you (assuming of course that your heading for a town)
