Spanish holiday plans

Thinking of going to Spain this year on holiday, and spending 3 1/2 weeks doing it. Have worked out a rough route there and back based on the lowest ferry cost (Dover-Calais- I hate boats...) Is this a fair route and list of things to be looking at, and has anyone any suggestions as to things I can visit (other than the obvious Granada Alhambra etc) on the way or whilst I am there, bearing in mind I know sod all about the area / Spain. Accomodation (cheap - as long as its comfortable I am fine) tips appreciated.
Also, have I left enough time to see what I need to see?

Ronda is great if you are after a bit of sea and a very nice place try Nerja on the coast, Seville is also very nice as is the alhambra in Granada
 
seems feasible,you might lose the odd day between destinations but no problem with that amount of time to play with.there are better places to base yourself in the pyrenees than lourdes.
 
Personally, I'd head up through Spain a little further east and take in the mountains of Meastrazgo (sometimes El Maestrat). Apparently the most remote and least populated area of Spain, it is indeed lovely. Also the mountains in around Catalunya are brilliant and full of amazing mountain roads.

You could also do the Millau bridge on the way home from further east. Worth seeing.

Alhambra is nice too!

(PS "26 Run home" - Can I make the obvious "oh, you're on a 1200" joke here? :D )
 
Last September, our route back to Santander was via Cordoba and Salamanca,
IMHO Cordoba was by far the more interesting !
Would your travel plans allow a vist to Segovia ? Spectacular ! maybe en'route to Seville.
