Spanish motorway tolls

I too travelled down through spain on my way to morroco in june on my lambretta and i found the tolls very expensive one toll cost € 33 when i paid i said i could have bought the motorway for that he was`nt too impressed nor was i but i will say the views were tremendous through Bezier and down the east coast to tarifa.:)

Sorry to bring this back to live this topic but doing that with a lambretta, impressive :clap

In the highway that you will see AP they are pay highway in the others you have not tompay anything.

AP means "autopista de pago"

Oso.

Heh. I found Spanish tolls dear, and a bit of a PITA to be honest - especially the motorway from Biarritz / San Sebastian back to Bilbao, there seemed to be a toll every 100 yards :o).
I did raise an eyebrow when I got back and found that several tolls were less than a Euro, but LLoyds-TSB had unfailingly charged me £1 Overseas transaction fee every time for using a card. My fault. Ho hum.

Spanish bikers we found very enthusiastic and friendly.

I think AP stands for Autopista de "Peaje" (Toll Road)

There's always a free alternative, usually worse but in some cases like "Autovia de La Meseta" which goes from Santander to Burgos, the free option is waaay better because it's newer.

Bikers in Spain do not wave because there's too many, if you waived everytime you'd need someone else to operate the clutch (or ride a scooter);)

I have been to Spain twice, never paid toll on m-way, used Garmin to work out routes with no tolls. The only time I paid for something was in the Tunnel de Cadi (EUR 9.37 !!! for 5 or so kilometers - http://www.tuneldelcadi.com) but that was planned as a shortcut at the end of longer day.
