Hi,

Just bought a 1996 F650 but it only has 1 key with it, can any 'key cutters' do a spare for me or do I have to pay BMW prices.
Any ideas?

Also the engine casings are abit 'rough' whats the best paint to use to tidy them etc.

Kind regards
Sam

I thing the BMW key blanks cost around £3-5. buy one and get it a locak key cutter.

a 1996 vintage key will be a simple design: no fancy electronics. I'm pretty sure a generic key blank should be suitable from a market or high st. hardware shop etc.

If not then do as Sam says and get a blank from BMW to be cut by ANOther.

When I needed a spare for my 1997 GS, I went to the closest locksmith. BMW used the same key blank for bikes and cars, at least for R and K bikes; an Ilco X59 is the generic replacement.

A while ago, when we bought SWMBO's F650ST, I got a genuine keyblank from MOTOBINS and got it cut locally.
