When I start the engine one of the cylinders is not starting right way. (and it’s getting worst)

Yesterday I pull the spark plugs out and one of them was much darker and with carbon deposits. The other was ok

What does this normally means? To rich mixture?

thks

Hello!

Same problems in Finland... Last year, I have problems with choke cable on left side. Choke was not full open. Now everything is ok. Airfilter is clean and choke cables works fine. I order new ignition wires, get them friday, lets see how it works.

Hi

If the spark plug is dark the mixture is too rich.

Poor starting can have many causes. There are many threads on here about it.

bernard,

No short cut but have to start from scratch and go through the entire checklist. Take your time about it.

Carbs will be my suspect, but check the valves clearance and timing too.

Good luck.

my experience

hi all, i had this prolem on my '90 100GS. it was a sticky choke mechanism on the nearside carb. A little wd40 and a lube ofthe choke cables sorted it for me. Thats not to say thet there isnt something else wrong with your machine. hecking valve clearances is ALWAYS good!
