Spate of `wheel arch access` thefts and possible solution?

Yeah pretty much. Seemingly all the senseless damage is done to only disable the attention drawn by the alarm, leaving the lowlife to remove the bike without drawing attention. Seemingly it's disconnected and that's it!

Make a hole in the mudguard just at the right position then create a barbed device that sits inside that keeps the urchins hand in place (hopefully painfully) until he/she is discovered or bleeds out

Come on, this is an early April fool's prank isn't it😂

Probs not. In the early 90's BMW cars were stolen far easier. The plastic trim under the passenger door lock was broken revealing a small hole. By inserting a small screwdriver the central locking was released. This allowed the little shits easy access to steal the contents or the car.

There was a recall and a plate welded inside the door skin to cover said hole.

I don't have an alarm, so maybe I should put a sticker on, to let the thieves know, just so they don't damage the bike too much.:thumb

Or could you make a "this bike doesn't have an alarm" plate up?:D

Well I'm thinking of a plate to cover that weak spot between the flat panel and where the mudguard starts proper to armour the weak spot they are using to gain purchase - I think they go for this anyway on the presumption that there is an alarm and if not what the heck!

Worth having some sort of protection - making it effective and keeping it looking neat is the trick I guess.

I e mailed Almax who is whom I'm thinking of buying from replied

2.0m series IV with a padlock = nearly 14kg

For out and about in London the 2m series III is most popular."

2m and 14kg:eek: so you pay a fortune on a full Akro to lose 10 kg from the weight of the bike and then carry a fucking chain around:blast

You might have done, I bought a Yoshimura for a hell of a lot less, and for the sound, not weight saving.

I don't intend to lug a heavy chain around except when travelling inside the m25 or other ghetto

I would certainly be intrested, I have a chain and a disc lock and would happily pay for and install that as well, yes the insurance can pick it up if stolen but depending on where you are it could be a major pain in the ArSE or ruin yer hol's ....

Fish hooks, dozens of them!

What about one of the plates that holds a shotgun cartridge with a trip trigger. Buy one from a farm supply shop and bend it. Just need to tension the trigger wire..

That's the type.. seems fair. No harm to anyone unless they happen to be removinga plastic wheel Arch panel
