Speakers 4 helmet

What in-helmet speakers do you boys n girls recommend?

I've got a SP III GPS and use some slim helmet speakers obtained from Rainbow M/C's (recommended by BTBR).

These have been "playing-up" on and off for the past 6 months ( only 1 speaker working -either 1 - then none, distorted and intermittent sound).

So what shall I replace them with?

Helmet speakers as provided by Autocom, to which Garmin 2610, iPod and Phone can be connected.

Autocom here as well. As with them all, take time to site them properly & bingo, intercom, GPS and music - arrrhh bliss.

I found that the standard Autocom speakers were too quiet when used with earplugs. So I bought a set of "super" Autocom speakers for about £30 which are louder and much better for use with earplugs.

Just rang up Autocom and did the credit card thing. Arrived next day. They are a bit thicker than the standard ones, but otherwise same dimensions.

Thanks for the info. I'll ring them tomorrow and get a set ordered. Will I have to butcher my helmet to fit them, or will they slot into my arai?.

My Autocom ones fit into my Arai a treat. Just put the Velcro on the ear "cut out" and you'll have enough room there to tweak the position.

Thanks, just rang them to order the speakers...........very indignant when I asked for the higher rated speakers, and said I didn't need them, so I've ordered standard ones, and we'll see.......

Hmmm - they were a bit indignant when I wanted mine too, but I said I had really high attenuation earplugs so send me the bloody things dammit.

Also, they'll say they are absolutely not for playing music. This is a legal get-out I think, as without earplugs they will blow your eardrums out. With earplugs, the old ipod was just super at 100mph plus with a noisy Arai Tour-X.

FYI, I trimmed a bit of soft foam from the side panels inside my Arai so I could locate the speakers a bit more forward of their otherwise obvious position. It's only soft "comfort" foam that I trimmed - I didn't need to attack the solid impact foam at all.
