No I am relying on the purchase of the GS to save my licence
At that time of day (night) are they sure the occupant was not some joy riding tea leaf
I do not agree with speed killing, I know the adverts all say we should run over children at 30mph, but I am a great believer in watching where I am going and perhaps not running them over at 40 is a better way
Is it just me or is this a pile of gibberish. I can't understand it at all.

Well N.W Donegal Has had their first experiances of these vans today.
Seemingly there were 5 Vans in the Area , I saw two Myself
One wee unmakred Blue Transit with a KY plate .
and a Big Iveco , with a KK plate .
I was a Passenger on both Occasions , and the Drivers wouldnt stop ,
i wanted to knock on the van and see for myself a ****** at work ...
I can see more of these being torched , they arent Safety camera vans
they are simpy money Makers for the State ..
No Doubt Xvaier will knock a good living out of it too...

Phil, if your back was to the wall financially and you needed money to pay mortgage ...healtcare insurance etc etc then you would take the job as well. These guys are drones so dont vent your anger on them.
Shark Finners, Tiger / Rhino / Bear poachers etc. all use the same defence, along with the if I was not doing it someone else would line.
I do take the point about paying the mortgage, but most of them are semi-retired doo-gooders.
I would rather see the money put into real coppers who can also detect other crimes and just by being omnipresent help reduce crime and assure the public.
Would be happy to see more on the spot fines and maybe a graded system so a few mph over the limit just gets you a single point, current system is crap 3 points for 33mph at 5.00am on good summers morning, same for 45mph past the local school in the pissing rain at kicking out time.
Would like to see similar for minor "due care" type incidents, coppers (or rather the few left out and about rather than filling out paperwork all day) must often see some crap driving that is not worth a pull, maybe some warrant a pull and a verbal warning, which to many A-Holes goes in one ear and out the other, a 1 point offence with a £50 fine would be a much better way of improving driving habbits and filling the empty plod coffers.
With all traffic cars having video these days it would be far easier as proof in court requires no witnesses, most people would take the fine to avoid the hassle, although the fines should be the same at court to get rid of the "demanding money with menaces" feel of the current on the spot system.
I would love to see lane hoggers, last minute lane changers, idiots that pull out on someone, tailgaters etc. being as at risk as people who just safely make progress, these people are really far more dangerous, and can drive dangerously all day long with virtually no chance of being prosecuted.

I do agree that the people who are working for this A**hole, McAuliffe, in the vans should not be targeted with peoples anger but what I would love to see happening is that when you come accross one of these well marked vans (total Bo***x) that if possible you stop your car as close as possible behind it, put on you hazard lights and open the bonnet and start tinkering as if you have a problem.
Stay there for 10 or 15 minutes obscurring the view of the camera.
I doubt it would be an offence to do that and whats more think of the kick you would get from it.

We've had talivans in England, Scotland and Wales enforcing pointless, artificially low limits for some years. There is no shred of evidence for their effectiveness. The stats wheeled out to 'justify' them have more loopholes than an an MP's expenses claim and the partnerships that operate them are completely unaccountable and opaque.
No-one over here has torched one yet (that I know of).
