going back to france in july i cant believe how many fecking speed cameras have appeared ive been a few times over recent years hardly seen any, looking at a forum on here with the cameras location spot, jesus there was more cameras than sign posts, looks like i will have to reroute as i had all me routes sorted with some highish miles, now i will have to reduce these as our speeds will be down a little:augie staying in annecy as a base then onwards to route napoleon, nice, grasse, verdon passes, alp de huez, and so on :aidan might see a few gs keep it upright and watch for the flashes :oonyack

They're all well-signposted - in some cases too much, especially on A roads. It's almost as if they don't want to catch you with fixed cameras...

Some are forward-facing, most rear-facing.

Drivers and riders coming towards you on N and D roads will almost always/certainly flash you if there is a mobile speed trap further on. French drivers don't normally flash for anything else, in my experience, so ignore at your peril!

There's still less likelihood of being caught speeding in France, than the UK, unless the rider's a complete numpty. Or blind!

Bon chance

Rouen to Abbeville on Monday and spotted a camera operator half way up the embankment, camera on a tripod and he was wearing a full camouflage suit! No signs. At the next toll booth were three cops, all checking reg numbers against a list...
