My wife has our recently purchased Rider 2 at home and I am stuck in the Falkland Islands (won't work down here) She has the instruction manual and can't work out how to activate the speed camera facility.

Is it easy and can some post the process here so I can copy it to her.

Cheers

Connect Rider V2 to computer with USB lead supplied.
Select updates and you will be able to download camera sites to your computer.
Then copy across to Tomtom and thats it.
You get an alert about 300 to 400 yards from the camera site.
The cost is about £20 per year but I read that the first time you connect and register the product it is free although Tomtom don't actually publicise that ! Anyway that's what I did and got them all fup and workin free of charge. Hope this helps.

Before paying for the Tomtom alerts look at the ones from PocketGPS. I can compare the two as my wife got a free one year subscription for her Rider but I use the Pocket GPS ones on mine. Same sort of cost but I have found many errors on the Tomtom ones and they are slow to update new cameras. For example, two new cameras were installed near me in October last year. The end of October PocketGPS included them but it took three months for them to appear on the Tomtom database.

You simply download the files, stick the Tomtom SD card in the computer and copy them all to the map folder, e.g. Western Europe. The first time you install them they need "activating" on the Tomtom which basically means scrolling through the POI list and setting each one as an alert and choosing the alert tone. Easy instructions come with the files and it only has to be done once. The updates just need copying across.

Dont use the TOMTOM speed cams. I have used pocketgps for years and they are much better.

Once you have subscribed its as easy as downloading a zipped file, unzip it and drop those files into the western european map folder on your tom tom.

All you then need to do is set the type of alert tone you want for speed cams (you only need to do this once)

Updating is just as easy, simply drag and drop files into western maps folder and answer yes to (do you want to overwrite existing files)
