Its like Sesame street, every week a new problem & number :blast

OK topic for today

Dead speedo..

Bike was mot'd saturday, and it was working ok then ...

Went to work this morning, and it was running fine, then i noticed , rev counter OK but no speedo :(

Looking online it's either crap in the gap for the ABS sensor, or its gone awol.

Now supposedly for the newer models the system will swith to using the front sensor & reluctor ring if the rear gives

an open circuit (Mines a 2006)

Plugged in the GS911, but nothing untoward came up ..

Engine , Cluster , Alarm all came up ok no faults found

Vehicle electronics said indicator failure not present now... ( that would have been me) replacing my bulbs with

leds

ABS give the usual littany of problems (servoectomy) with one addtional one.. but not sensor related ....

Cleared them all

So if it is the sensor, will it change to the front one?

If not, and the gap is ok, then i'm guessing a new ABS sensor is needed

Unplug the rear sensor, lift front wheel off ground, ignition on, spin wheel. If speedo registers it's rear sensor problem.

The bike normally uses the rear wheel sensor but if its not working it will eventually switch to the front sensor. That can be quite a distance but explains why the speedo seems to come and go.

Check the rear speed sensor connector by the rear sock top mounting. Failing that you probably need a new one. Mine lasted 60K miles.

OK, think ive found the cause of this one.

I replaced the tool roll monday morning, and i think i may have moved the connector to the ABS underneath.

Ive had it all apart now and cleaned the connector up. all working again .

(for now )
