so i noticed that when i rev the engine on my 650 in neutral, the speedo starts to move up to about 10mph. is this just due to vibration, or is there some sort of issue at hand? thanks.

I have a similar problem - I've been told that it can be caused by a variety of things.
Not come to a conclusion as to what it is yet, but it is most likely an earth fault.

One garage has told me that they have seen this before and it was the heated grips, but removing mine has made the problem worse.

It could be an earth fault behind the clocks, apparently a regular occurance.

I'll be putting the bike into my local bike electrical specialist next week to have it looked at - will update you when I get an answer.

Cheers,

Rob

The speedo cable goes from your front wheel directly to the back of your clocks...No electrickery..Just a outer cable sheath and a thin cable/wire inside...

Speed sensor is on the rear. Front is only an ABS sensor (if fitted). :rob

So solly,
I get confused between bikes ..Thats the er500...f650 gs has an abs ring even though you might not have abs..
Sometimes the tiny spaces between the holes on the ring get clogged with dirt and send stupid erratic signals to the module. other times oil and dirt contaminates the abs pick up probe ( this is most likely) and sends silly signals ...Clean abs ring with a toothbrush and take off the probe and carefully clean the end of the probe with a soft clean rag...Tosh
