I have a BMW Nav I (which I believe is otherwise known as an SP III) in my possession that has suddenly decided to just show me a blank, grey screen.

I got this for nothing but before I bin it, is this definitely terminal or is there a simple fix? :nenau

Thanks I'll give that a try but reading the thread it looks as though a different problem was manifest.

Mine is powering-up but the screen is blank, albeit a grey blank.

Well having opened it up, there's nothing obviously broken or disconnected.

The only reason why I'm not certain that it's the screen that's failed is that either on batteries or plugged into the car, the on/off button will allow it to switch on but not off (I have to pull the lead or remove the batteries to power it down).

Anyone got one of these old things kicking around that has failed and may be a source for a bit of bastardisation?

If you do decide to throw it in the bin can I have the plastic piece from the rear case that clips into the mounting bracket as mine has broken and will not stay in the bracket without a zip tie ? :)

I'm not sure that this one has what you need (it's not been used on a bike for years and only has the car dashboard-top mount and speaker) but if I can't get it back to life, I'll offer it for free for spares here on the forum somewhere.
