Been sitting on a lovely set of hella DEs for Madame's 800 for ages and must get around to fitting them.

But where? Crash bars fitted so a possibility there but would ideally like then a bit higher. Anyone make an effective light bar? How did you mount yours?

Pictures please. And thanks in advance

A while back I came across a thread and I believe Chad had maufactured some sort of brackets that fitted from the screen mount and indicators.....See if i can find it again.

Mmmm, maybe i was wrong, it looks like How Much was fabricating them but that was for the 800 :blast

Have a look at this thread, again it is for the 800 but it may also fit the 650 i've not looked at mine yet:

Page 7 has the ones that How Much had made.........

Let me know if you decide anything, i'd like to add to my 650 to aid presence.

Hello Mr Badger, Chad is the man to P.M. :D

here is a prototype:

here you see the bracket and Micro DE's :thumb2

The one they have now at RR is improved slightly longer including cable tie holes, for 650 (and the 800 girlies also) holdes the lights at the corect angle.

Hi Buz,

the bracket is for the 650 and 800 :thumb2, where mine are mounted underneath the 800 would most likely be mounted on top as the 800 has lower indicators positions,

The good thing is you get that larger presence as in triangle of lights main to spots and keeping away from your indicators. Tested mine with lights full on HID and spots, front indicators still clear and highly visable :thumb2

but your right Chad has the info :thumb2

hi mr b.

i've been thinking about this and i reckon the best place to mount them would be on my bike......:augie

OK. You can fight madame for them. Be warned, she's got a longer reach than me (and that's 6'1"), no scruples and an astonishing level of brutality. You're a tough looking fellow, but with her it's a living, so leave it.

TVM. Will PM the tall one.

If your lights are light enough like mine are then you can mount them to the indicator mounts with an extension bar. It made a neat fit for me and the wiring fits easily through the indicator feed. Simple

Looks can be deceptive, I'm yeller like me bike....:ymca

Look forward to seeing the finished article, have to hook up for a brekkie run or summink when they're done :thumb

Sounds like a grand idea, Rich...hope to see you (and Naomi too, of course) soon... :thumb

Mr Badger, the Rugged Roads one is finalised and test fitted on Puma's bike. We will have them in stock by the end of next week if you are still looking for one. If you would like me to I am quite happy to send you a message to let you know as soon as they are available.

Sorry it took a little longer than we originally anticipated. Needed to make a couple of adjustments before it was ready for sale. If you are still looking we now have them in the shop:

Thanks again all at Rugged Roads :clap :clap :clap

Just when you think you have improved your bikes looks and function enough something else pops up :blast

Chad swapped over the new for old prototype earlier in the week.

The new light bar is a nice peice of kit and dare I say very "RUGGED" one peice of precious Metal :D :thumb2

compared to the prototype (as my above post) it is slightly longer giving better road presence.

I believe most F800Gs riders would mount there lights on top as there indicaters are lower compared to the F650GS.

I think that away from the indicators is a safety point! I want people to see my bright orange. the triangle pattern from main to spots is a good spread of light. and overall presence.

personaly when I ride at night I like a spread of light that takes away those lurking shadows that are low and close to the bike, the HID takes care of the distance.

Heres a side view, notice the neat cable tidy locaters.

I must point out the actual light guards around my Micro DE's are an older version as for the new one. Rugged Roads have a new one in the precious Metal but its not ready just yet. T.B.A. (watch this space) :D :thumb2
