Do any of your guys who are either bigger or smaller than the average bear change your spring rates to suit your weight?

Greg

Not me, with all my riding gear on, I fall in to the 80-90kg weight category that suit the stock springs, I know Loz has fitted a heavier spring to his 525 rear shock.

Edit: if you do need alternative springs, these guys have been recommended by several people:

I did on my rallye bike (525 with Mecca system) all the extra weight from the mecca system parts and me:( I needed a heavier spring to get the correct sag.

yes greg,go and weigh your riding gear mine is about 11kg with bum bag tools camelback ect so unless your a spindley chap to set it up right you might need fork springs and a revalve as well

i've used full travel a couple of times

Don't mess with it your opening a can of worm's playing with suspension I only know a few people who have managed to get suspension right people normally end up with a unrideable pogo stick and convinse themselves they've improved the bike.

525sx
400exc
640enduro
640AdventureR
690enduro

22st+ rider plus gear never bothered weighting my gear.
all on standard suspension

Even though I've not yet ridden the bike, I've decided to change the spring - it's a job that can be done in about 10 minutes!!

The original 82N/mm spring is off and I've just ordered a 87.5N/mm spring to replace.

The springs are 2½" ID and 250mm long when new. White Power charge about £80 to deliver a new spring. There's nothing too fancy about the spring - they are single rate and painted orange :barf . I've bought a replacement from Demon Tweeks for under £50 (and I'll bet the same spring could be had for half that money if you shop around).

Now I've discovered how quickly and easily the spring can be changed, I can always swap back if it's no good.

I know of couple of guys who have put stronger springs on there 525's. I am thinking of putting one on my 530.

The general thought over here is, if your riding weight is over 190 lbs, go for a stronger spring.

And I've just demanded my money back from Demon Tweeks!

They promised delivery in 5 working days - that was either yesterday or today depending if you count the day I placed the order.

I ring them today to be told I won't get it before the middle of next week as they don't have the spring in stock.

I now have a genuine WP 88/250 spring bought off eBay from a guy 10 miles up the road!

If you're changing the spring you might as well go the whole hog and replace the shock oil and have it re-gassed.
Cheers
