Many users have reported a problem after the advanced check library update (version 1.5) from the 2007-01-12:

The scan was much faster before, now it takes longer than one hour.
To avoid this problem please make sure that you are running the latest version of Spybot - Search & Destroy.
If this is the case we recommend to stop the scan, shut down your pc and make a fresh start.
But not all users have this problem, so it seems that there is a software conflict.
Probably the realtime detection of an antivirus software.
Many problems reported in combination with AVG, but McAfee is mentioned as well. But it is not a general
antivirus software conflict. Avira doesn't seem to have a problem with the new detection mechanisms.
The conflict itself is shown by a very high CPU usage of the anti-virus-protection during
the scan with Spybot - Search & Destroy.
To overcome this problem it should help to disable your anti-virus-protection during the scan
with Spybot - Search & Destroy and enable it again after the scan.
Please disconnect your Internet connection during the scan in order to avoid any risks.
Another solution is to uninstall Spybot-S&D:

and then reinstall it without the Advanced check library update.
Just skip the update during the installation and download the updates manually.

Here is the direct download link:

Just download and run that file - it is self-installing.
We will find a more suitable solution as soon as possible.
