Squared-off tyres

Although I really like my tourances (10,200 miles so far) they are getting squared off because of M''way mileage, but the tread depth is OK for a little while longer.

Any recommendations for when I change?

And no suggestions for 'non-M'way routes', 'try more weaving in and out of the traffic' etc pleeeeeease....I occaisionally ride on unmade tracks but no serious off-roading...(now I've told my Garmin to avoid unmade roads)

I'm fairly sure I'll get Tourances again...but what-do-ya-think? Is there anything better?

Not much to beat Tourance for miles, but if you do not go offroad BT020's are excellant and don't seem to Square off so much.

Had a brief try on dunlop D607's on my 1150. I thought tourances were pretty good but these are better - don't think you'll get many miles from a set but they sure do grip. A mate of mine is running 020's and reckons they're also better than tourances.

Gives the dunlops a try though - pretty good IMHO:thumb

this might sound like a bone reply, but it doesn't matter what tyres you're using, or even what bike you're on, if you do mostly motorway miles, it's a fact of life your tyres will square off!

If you don't want squared tyres, you'll have to change your routes, if you don't want to change your routes, get used to squared tyres....

Ask your local tyre dealer for the hardest compound tyres (at least in centre) if you purely plan to ride on road, if you like a little off-roading/fun too, then tourances will probably your best bet?

I've got BT020's on the 1150 and they have proved less square-off0able that the Tourances and a lot of my miles to work etc are M20 and A2 dual carriageways.... they are a lot more expensive though but showing plenty of life in them after a mere 4500 miles than could be said of the Tourances after the same sort of time.

thanks for the comments / advice - and yes Chris 10,400 on the original tyres with tread to spare...I'll probably go and get Tourances - any cheap deals out there?

10,200 from a rear ?????

My Deathwing rear is square and barely legal at 5,400 Km...It now slumbers peacefully in my garage as a spare.

I've since replaced it with TKC--Yeah, Baby!
