Has anybody had anything to do with www.desmoparts.com as i am thinking of replacing all my fastners to stainless steel and this looks to be a good comprehensive kit. They say on there website that they barter so mabye a good deal could be had if their is enough interest.

I'd certainly be interested in a set too.

Winter riding does tend to fur up the fastners a bit!

Cheers,

Ben.

Vern,

Would you do a set for an old G/S (airhead), or only the oilheads?
as i'm thinking about tarting her up a bit.

S/S fasteners

Stay well clear of motobins S/S bolt set it is bad. The quality is absolute rubbish. If you are changing go mad and measure them, lol. Use A$ Stainless i.e. marine grade it far better, and also stronger tensile strength. A couple of good sites are: http://www.namrick.co.uk/default.asp or www.a2a4.co.uk

Not allways cheapest but good service and A4's from both.

Stainless Steel

It just so happens that I've ordered 2 sets of GS stainless fasteners from *esmo*arts.

One is obviously for my GS but the other one is for the R1100R. Desmoparts don't do a kit for the R1100R so I'm going to see what bits are compatible & what needs to be changed.

Before I start changing the R1100R bits, I'm quite happy to let Vern go through the kit to see what he needs and therefore change / substitute where necessary to make a "UK GS'er" kit.

Vern, are you happy with this? Saves having to buy one / do the diagram?

Not going against Chris at *esmo but if the exchange rate sours....

Expect delivery within 2 weeks from today.

Cheers

s/steel bits and bobs

keith shaw, 0115 972 7847 in nottingham has a good choice of s/steel nuts n bolts, he also makes the s/steel gearbox and bevelbox plugs £3.50 each plus post. used him half a dozen times now. no problems. nick

For God' sake, are you so bored to buy fasteners from ebay and do it four yourselves?

You can get a kilo's worth of stainless steel nuttery for less than $20!!

Desmoparts SS kits

Just so happens I received both the engine and chassis kits from Desmoparts a few months ago.
Actually bought them off ebay.
Fitted the chassis kit so far. Comprehensive for sure.
However, a couple of the replacement button head screws for the phillips head are rather cheesy and require a smaller allen key than is supplied in the factory toolkit. I ended up sticking with the Phillips heads in that case.
Not too fussed on the finish of the sides of the heads of the allen screws, a tad scruffy, even though most won't be seen.
All the sizes seem correct.
Everything comes in little ziplok bags, with directions - must take bloody ages to compile the kits.
Genuine stainless wave washers too - first time I've seen them !
Value for money - yes, sure.
One day I'll get around to fitting the engine bolt kit.
But maybe I'll look at alloy instead - am trying to lose weight without buying a 1200 ;)
