Anyone had problems scraping everything on the deck when riding two up with luggage, already had a new centre stand, side stand, rear brake lever, just back from a trip around Europe, and returned with the same problem,........ all the above again badly scraped, seems like im going to have to invest in a set of after market shocks, not good when you consider how much these bikes cost in the first place, any feed back would be gratefully recieved, any ammo i can take to bmw will help.

I am sorry but what do u mean by "scrapping" ? (like the paint is rubbed away or something ?)
Signed : a lost French in translation

Machine cat

when you lean your bike over going around a corner, sometimes you touch the stand down on the road therefore it scrapes all the paint of............ is that OK or do you want pictures.

With the preload wound up to max and the damping on hardest I haven't had this problem two up and with luggage. I do wear the tyres to the very edge (at least on the rear) so maybe you've got a dodgy shock or are overloading the bike (don't take the kitchen sink on hols!)

Scraping everything

Mate had exact same problem, dealer replaced faulty rear shock, this cured problem.

I have the same problem, the centre stand is the firgt to deck when riding two up and she is only 8st and I am 14st.

As GSman1 says its the rear shock that's duff, dealer replaced under warranty and all the damaged bits as well.

Legger's had the rear shock and bits replaced already on his bike, I think.............

This is second time around...............it's the way he rides..........fast and furious.............

Legger likes to get it 'horizontal' whilst cornering, especially 2 up..........

Re scraping

Cheer's lads, i forgot to mension when i had both the stands replaced and the rear brake lever, they also replaced the rear shock, the new one has made no difference,

Bmw have asked me to check how much sag there is with both me and my missus on the bike, and also check how much weight we were carrying in the panniers.

To sum the sittuation up i do believe the bike is a little soft, also it has less ground clearence than previouse models, the centre stand is much wider than the gs 1150 which makes it easier to scrape, and the side stand sticks out further than normal with the inclusion of the elbow near the top.

The bike is great solo but to up for me its crap, the only thing that will put this right is a pair of aftermarket shocks, at a cool cost of about £800 quid, i dont agree you should have to go down that road especially when its designed to carry two up with luggage.

Peg scraping..............must be the way we both ride..........!!!!!!!

My Adv is a "Legger pre owned".

There's not much left of the footpegs ;)

It doesn't suprise me he's having problems with the 1200

Spout

Now Spout hows my old girl running, the beast you have got would ride straight under any 1200, you dont need speed with the handling qualities of an ADV brilliant piece of kit, take care of it, and c u about some time.

Andy

Well if you will use it you can expect it to break, could just be another duff shock, have you got it set right or is your missus a big 'un.

Our mate's missus is petite so nowhere near the weight limit and his failed, it was the rebound or lack of it.

Re Big un

jimb my missus is only 9st but tall, no doubt i will find the problem i am taking it in to have the once over tomorrow at Allan Jeffries.
