there was a thread about modifying a standard exhaust , well my standard exhaust is now modified and with the y piece , bloody loud!!!!!

now they know im coming..

remus??? pah mines still legal!!!!!! :thumb

That was the first thing i did to my bike, i was advised by a BMW man, to keep the standard can, as if it backfires, it wont blow it to pieces!

Does yours backfire?

not much . i get the odd burble on overrun , and i have modified the standard can so its straight through...

thats why its noisey .... yeah ! baby!!! ;)

Mine backfires like a bitch. Fret ye not as I have tried every catcode plug option to stop and I have the answer...

Let it backfire cause they all make F all difference. Try not to shut of as your peeling into the bend cause it can scare the shit out of ya. Best to apply the throttle as you approach the bend and lean the bike over further cause your going so much faster. This in turn increases the risk of backfire and requires a fairly hefty throttle twist to ensure that the backfire doesn't appear.

Once at full throttle you will find that backfiring will cease and that your off road skills may improve very rapidly.  :thumb

Mr Slimbo what did you do then ?

I was thinking of getting a remus from Mr Nippy, but if your way is easy and cheap (cheaper than £199.99 plus P&P) then i might give it a go

Cheers

tis a simple option .

remove the standard can and take off the chromey mud collector that covers the outside of it, then using a dremmell thingy with a cutting disc carefully cut the weld around the can at the exhaust outlet end.
once cut pry off and you will be left with an end cap with a piece of tube attached.
hacksaw the tube off and put away somwhere safe.

offer the end cap back to the can and you will find a lip slides into the main body. once located in the right pos then drill two or three v/small holes through the outer skin and the inner lip , secure with stainless self tappers and put the cover back on..(with the cover on the self tappers cant fall off.)

then refit can and start, if you still have the cat on it wil sound slightly louder, if like me you have a y piece fitted it will annoy the neighbours in the next street over and without earplugs your ears will bleed!!..

there was a better set of instructions on adv rider site i will try to locate..

have a looky , far better isntrucions http://webpages.charter.net/hondapotamus/muffler.htm

Thanks Mr Slimbo

Looks easy enough, might have a go - bet i make a right pigs ear out of it

cheers
