Having just fitted my Standard can to the Y piece I'm surpised to feel there isn't that much difference. Just wondered which set up you prefer?

When I first got the bike, I slapped a Y-piece, Remus Revolution and Techlusion on it. Made a big difference to torque. Eighteen months later, I re-fitted the standard can 'cos we were going on a touring holiday and SWMBO wanted a bit of peace and quiet on the back.

I was astonished to find the bike now had even more torque. Just to be sure, I once again fitted the Remus to confirm that the standard can was not only a nicer sound, but offered more torque. Standard can has been back on since then. Anyone wanna Remus Revolution?

After a few hundred miles of riding mine with the Y and standard can I'm thinking there is definetly more initial bottom end grunt. I think the mid range suffers slightly though? But my Techlusion may need setting up again.

I think I'll get it set up by dynospeed developments with the standard can on, at least for the winter anyway. The standard can with teh Y piece gives it a nice inoffensive burble. I normally like LOUD bikes, but this is growing on me daily. :)

I sold my y-piece and Remus in order to finance essential work on the bike.

I had the original set-up put back on with regret. But now I much prefer it - smoother, quieter, no noticeable difference in performance as far as I can see.

Looks a bit pipe 'n' slippers but wtf.

Yep, I totally agree with LRR comments.

There certainly seems like there is more low down grunt with the std can. In fact, being a sad git, I actually did some testing on the local dual carriageway, using the GPS as a measuring tool.

Std can & Y- piece vs a Remus can & Y-Piece

I tried a number of roll on speeds in certain gears and also the overall top speed. Sadly, the top speed was no differant at all :(

From the testing that I personally did, I concured that the std can with the Y-piece was the better combination of the two. Plus with the Remus fitted, it bought about its own set of problems with the ally panniers fitted.

So the Remus was duly sold!

That said, the Remus did sound so very nice :thumb

PS

LRR,
I do know someone that is after a Remus, so if you do want to sell it, I'll maybe speak to you tonite?

I'm an 'other please state' Just got CAT no can jus a peice of S/S pipe on to redirect the gasses. Quieter than the Y and remus(road legal) can but a bit more rorty than the std (pufffita pufffita puffita) can. ;)
