I have a starcom 1 which i want to fit to my 1150 adventure, but am completely stumped where to place the box, as there is very little room under the seat, any help would great, cheers

PS, fitting the headset to a Roof R010 is easy, but it's impossible to an AGV Hi tech without cutting your ears off.

I'm not sure how different the Adventure is to a standard GS but I have fitted mine just after the fuel tank. See photo below:

Hope this helps :)

I fitted/velcroed mine on the "flat" top of the rear wheel mudguard, behind the fuse box and under where the front of the tool roll fits.

You will find there is more than enough room and you can keep the tool roll in its normal place too. I couldn't fit it by the airbox as that is where I fitted the igniter thingy for my HID headlight.

PS I forgot to say that my Starcom is the Advance model which maybe a fair bit smaller?

I've got the Advance model as well - its in my jacket pocket.

One of the advantages of having a bluetooth GPS system I guess - I can have the entire thing in my jacket pocket (bluetooth module as well as my mp3 player) with room to spare - and the only cable going to the bike is the power cable.

I'm guessing I'd have to put a 2-way radio in a different jacket pocket (I have my bluetooth enabled phone in a different pocket for example - it connects to the Rider so no cables there either). I'm not likely at the present time to need a 2-way radio though.

My mp3 player runs for around 19 hours before needing a recharge and the phone runs for over a week if I don't use it too much, so my recharging issues have all but gone away now.

Just my 2p.

I just fitted the Advance model in pretty much the same location as Flashman, except that it is turned through 90 degrees and half-hidden under the tank. It would go all the way under if it wasn't for the alarm.

Works well in this position. I actually cut a piece of 5mm polycarbonate to shape (a little bigger than the Starcom), zip tied the Starcom to the polycarb and Velcroed the polycarb to the airbox lid. I moved the diagnostic plug to the left and it still (just) fits in its holder.

Thanks chaps, very useful, the standard box won't fit where the tool roll is, so it looks like it will have to go on the air filter box.
thanks for your replies, cheers. :thumb

Same fitment as Flashman, but rapped in a HD plastic bag with small holes cut in it for the leads, just in case :)

Just fitted mine today to an 1150 Adv. Located the main unit just to the rear of the fuse box. The seat will still locate, but now with a bit of an extra shove to click into place. Now just have the hassle of fitting the headsets to the helmets.

Cheers.
