Starcom1 & Zumo 400 questions

Hi all,
I have bought a GS with a starcom1 intercom and want to add my Zumo 400 to it.
The bike already has a lead running to the headstock with a 2.5mm jack that fits the bottom audio output on the zumo cradle but this gives me no audio. I can get audio using the music lead in the 3.5mm socket on the zumo cradle but before i route all the leads will this lead pick up a lot of interference?
I will be powering the starcom direct from the battery and the zumo from the headstock canbus plug if this makes any difference.

The 2.5mm socket is for the mic. This enables you to use the phone via Bluetooth using the Zumo as the hub. However, I believe that the Zumo 400, having a cut-down spec, has no Bluetooth capability so this is probably because the cradle is the same as the higher spec 500 and 550 models. The 3.5mm socket will provide audio but with the GPS and Starcom being vehicle powered you are likely to suffer, to a greater or lesser extent, from GLI (Ground Loop Interference). I suggest that you try it and see but be prepared to buy a Starcom isolating lead (#MUS-04). You will see that there's a specific one for Zumos a little way down that page but that includes the audio 2.5mm part that you won't be able to make use of. That's unless you think that you might upgrade to a 500, 550 or 660 Zumo in the future.
