Help !

Hi, its my first post so go easy.......

1150GSA, 2004, haven't used it for a few months, been connected to an Optimate to look after the battery.
Pressed the start button, a loud click and now the bikes dead (no warning lights) .
I guess I've blown a fuse but why ? Starter motor perhaps ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Maybe battery, but don't spend any money until you (or a mate) have been round it with a voltmeter to check out battery, connections, fuses, switches etc.

Last thing you want is to spend £70 on a battery and then find it was only a fuse or a loose terminal.

HTH, good luck.:thumb2

simple check - attach some jump leads and see if it turns over or the ignition lights come on.

Many Thanks

Thanks guys for your replies ....

It is the battery, feel a bit stupid now that I didn't think of jumpstarting it myself, especially now I've read all the posts on here about batteries.

I didn't think a battery could go from apparently fine (RID, headlight etc.) to absolutely nothing (not even the clock) in one press of the starter !

Now I know, off to buy a new battery.

Thanks again

a battery can measure fine until a load is applied then it sinks faster than the titanic ( for a proper volts test you would need a load tester )
