Starting Problem

Hi All...... my partner rides a 2005 650, the bike is always plugged into the battery tender when not in use....(not in use means 4 or 5 days). Today it turned over but would not start, there is a funny (vacuum) sound from the front end of the bike. I have noticed that it never seems to start on the first push of the button. I know all this because I have to move it before i can take my 12gs out. New battery maybe??????

My previous 650 (2003 model) seemed to lose battery power very quickly (we think due to the immobilizer system) and if she wasn't constantly on the Optimate could be a pig to start........used to sound like she'd thrown a spanner in the engine.....
Got a new battery which helped, but didn't completely solve the problem.....needless to say, my new bike doesn't have a factory fitted immobilizer thingy......

Check the battery.Some battery tenders ,if connected continually,tend to evaporate the acid leaving the level woefully low.

Think I sorted it...... a double clink on the alarm key fob seemed to solve it. Thanks for the suggestions
