:Hi anyone help with the following ?
My 06 GS broke down a few weeks ago ..... battery flat and ended up green flagged home !
Decided as I hadn't ever needed a new battery to replace with a new BMW one as it seemed the likely cause .

A few weeks later I have had a problem on starting again .... ignition on , hit the starter then tick, tick, tick
I had a home mechanic look at it and it started off the charger , he said the battery had enough charge but not enough to crank it over .
I have charged over night .... its just ticked then started ........ I am pretty sure just by recharging the battery this wont be solved .
Typical , had the bike for 15k not missed a beat .... just about to have to sell and this .
Any ideas ??
Cheers :beerjug:

Never a good idea to simply replace a battery without testing the charging system. It sounds like either it is not charging properly or there is a current draw somewhere. Unless it is something simple like a loose connection-try battery, earth points and starter motor. Next step would be to check the charging system (or get someone to do it for you if you don't have the equipment/time/knowledge) If that is OK then check for any losses in the system.

Good luck

John
