Is there anyone that could make 4 X Steel Bars that are stepped along the length.
Starting with a diameter of 12.00mm with the next diameter being 12.4mm, with each diameter increasing by 0.4mm per step.
I would like the steps to be 35mm in length, with 7 steps per bar. The first step on the first bar would be 12.00mm.
The second bar would start at 14.8mm, again with 7 steps.
The third bar would start at 17.6mm, with 7 steps and the last bar would start at 20.4mm with 7 steps.
I would be gratefull if someone out there was able to make up these bars. I am willing to pay for the work to be done.
If anyone can help please contact me either by PM or 07956 411 084 or 0118 954 0606.

Thanks

Gary

Sorry to nosy Gary, but what are they for?

Any reason why you don't just point in the yellow pages and find a machine shop... they'd whip something like this up for you while you wait practically....

Anyone with a lath should be able to...

But you don't state your tolerances... important...

are these not obtainable from a jewellery supplier?

Gary, that sounds expensie to be fair.
And as mentioned, a local machine shop will look at it, but the cost will be at least 2 hours so over £100.

What about these:

beat me to it Timpo....

£8.99 can't go wrong!!

Take your pick Gary..wooden steel or ally..

just google for 'Ring Mandrel'

Thanks for the ideas, but the mandrels I've looked at so far are all tapered. The ones I'm looking to have made are stepped. There is only one I've found to date that's stepped is on ebay. Even this one does not cover all the sizes I want. I spoke to a turner today who has quoted £35 per bar in stainless. I'll go ahead with his offer, unless a forum member comes up with another option.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
Gary
