Hi folks,
Has anybody had issues with the steering being out of true? I've just noticed following a long motorway journey with cruise control on that my handlebars are a few degrees out of true in relation to the front wheel. I took the bike to my local dealer and they re-torqued all the fork bolts and test rode my bike. I rode my bike home and it's still out by a few degrees!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Yes. Mine has been rectified now and I had an older 1200gs yrs ago that had the same problem. Mine was a few degrees out this time but you could really notice it.

It a 2014 model TE with 800 miles on the clock, Whilst running it in I did it over a 5 day period and never noticed the issue, however the weather was mostly Peeing it down and it was on B roads with lots of twisty action...
Since the first service I have done longer boring commuting and that's when it became apparent.
With over 30 years of biking under my belt it little things like this that niggle you.

Uh-Oh :blast

.......gowan, someone tell him FFS (and post the thread link), I'm a lebbenfiddy man so if I do, it'll be seen as unfair by the victimised :blast

A 14 plate should not have the steering issue, it was only the 1st builds that had the issue and after all my issues i can honesty say the first thing i did when i collected my replacement was do lock to lock and check the steering.

You may want to check the pinch bolts on the bottom yoke, mine on my 13 plate were not torqued up.

Tbh seems even 2014 bikes still have issues, i kid you not they forget to fit my overflow pipe on my new 14.

I suggest you turn the bars left - right and see how far the bar is from the tank on lock and vice versa, than look underneath at the fork on lock to see if the distance is the same from the fork leg to the frame.

This was my difference.

But it tracked straight, tbh i would like to think your forks have twisted in the yokes and its a quick fix if you not what to do.

After spending 30 mins with the mechanic at my local dealer all is sorted, he had me sit on it with the bars straight ahead and he undid the pinch bolts and little by little adjusted the front wheel to neutral position.

Vince .... Do you fly by any chance :nenau (Just checking .... new guy and all that .. )
