Stella Alpina 2013

Better still, go via the Col de Mt Cenis.

yes also nice, lots of trails around the lake but( according to a bardo hotelowner/enduro rider) many years back some guys got the bikes helicoptered off - they had to walk down.

on the way down keep an eye out for the guys house with the totem poles and other shite in his garden.

There must be a good reason for you doing that?
Doesn`t sound very wise to ride from yours...cross the Channel...then meet others for a run down to Dijon.
You`ll be going an awfully long time without sleep, you`ll be knackered and won`t very safe on the road.

It`d be far better to ride down on the 9th,cross over, then overnight in Calais.

Even overnighting in this country and having an early morning crossing would be better than what you seem to be proposing.

Would love to get away and ride down on the 9th but i cant get away from work until 18.00 hrs so its home to bed get 6 or 7 hrs sleep then away you go , i am up at 04.00 hrs every morning so an hour earlier wont make no odds

Ok mate. :thumb

Chaps- Am I right in thinking that this event happens on the 14th of July this year?
And is there a good crowd around for the whole weekend?

And, if so, can I join you?

The Mrs. flies home from near Milan on Friday 12th; this looks like fun!!

Ok on a nearly new RT?
I CANNOT afford to drop it!!

The event happens every year
ON THE SECOND SUNDAY IN JULY
If yer dont want to drop yer bike dont ride it anywhere :D
I have seen a Goldwing at the top and a brand new 916 Duke
Ride it as far as yer want up the hill it is a few mile to the top
( I would think the top still is snow and ice covered )
There may be local advice available on the web :thumb

Yeah- you're right.
I might come along for the :aidan and give the off-road riding a miss.
I don't even like off-road riding!

Having said that; I took my old RT off-road much more than I ever did my GS!

No point in shaking the new bike to pieces just yet; just for the sake of having "done it" :blagblah

I'm out

I failed the late fitness test today. I got a huge load of insect bites at the weekend, counted about 40. both my ankles are like small footballs and though I got one boot on it was too painful :(

Maybe I'll see again tomorrow but things don't look good :tears

Yes Andrew.. thanks.. have taken some and been using creams. Still not very good tonight though :(

Limited WiFi access, but were down in the south of France now, Bardonecchia tomorrow for three nights. There's a bier waiting for you Rob

Man, I'm itching to get out on the bike.

Actually I'm just plain itching. Bah.
