Interesting video. I inherited a small boggy bit of ancestral land - close to 4 acres. Down in this end of Ireland much of the planting is as described in Antrim but recently the incentives here have shifted to encouraging native plantation. Allowing for set back from the road & a powerline passing through a little over 3 acres was planted. Oak, hazel, scots pine, holly & rowan (mountain ash) - ash itself is not currently included in the scheme (ash die back issue). It was planted about 3 years back & I get a modest annual grant. The oak trees have 90 years to commercial maturity; I'll be 160 by then - might help with the nursing home fees. In the interim a sort of bio diverse smugness prevails.
