reminds me of my primary school days in Whiteabbey with the sea breaking across the Shore Road where the river entered the Lough. The few cars/vans of the day would wait for the break between the waves.
The other things that I remember from that time are eating my lunch outside the squealing abattoir, the dead dogs floating in the mill dam, finding birds' nests up by the railway, spending my 3d bus fare on a bag of chips and walking home to Rathcoole, the air raid shelters in the school playgrounds and the Sunderland/Sandringham flying boats flying over the school.
Six/seven year olds have the best fun.
